Two trips to Morocco isn’t enough for Dana Nothnagel.
The New Trier senior first vacationed with her family in the country several years ago. A second trip later came when she was granted a language-based scholarship last summer.
And, when the opportunity recently came about to spend an entire school year in Morocco, she couldn’t pass it up.
“I enjoyed the feeling of being abroad and I made a lot of good friends,” Nothnagel said about her previous time in Morocco before leaving for her next trip in late August.
Luna is a 5-month-old energetic beagle mix that we adopted this July. She immediately stole our hearts with her friendly, playful personality. She loves belly rubs, going long for frisbee throws, anything with peanut butter, running away from us when she finds an acorn in the yard and meeting new friends on walks. We can’t get enough of our Looney Tunes/Lunatic.

In this week’s issue, we honored three North Shore moms who won prizes in our Annual Mother’s Day Essay Contest.
For the contest, we asked readers across our seven North Shore publications to send in a short story and a photo about what makes their mom the best mom out there. In return, we got some heartwarming responses.
New Trier graduate Dale Meyers Cooper died on Aug. 28 at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing in East Longmeadow, Mass. She was born in Chicago in 1922 to a father who was purchasing agent for a confectioner and a mother who was a talented milliner.
