Whether he was holding court at his beloved Macushla tap room or hanging out with family, Mike Welch was a guy everyone wanted to be around.

“He touched a lot of people. He made a lot of good relationships, and once you got to know him, you were going to have a bond for life,” said his brother Patrick.

Hundreds of those friends and family packed Our Lady of Perpetual Help and then the basement at Hackney’s on Lake April 22 to share one last moment with Welch, who died April 17 at age 44.

But, being conjoined? Well, that’s a whole different story.

The two actors — originating from the North Shore — were cast in ABC’s “The Good Doctor” as Jenny and Katie, conjoined twins who undergo a separation surgery, a step towards physical independence despite the high risks.

As we’re switching gears to fall, The Glencoe Anchor provided one more look back at this year’s summer break during its annual Family Vacation Photo Contest.

This year, it looks like many families had a wonderful summer exploring new places on vacation.

The top photo for this year’s contest came from Glencoe resident David Colton, who wrote in: “Our favorite photo from Big Sky, Montana last week. My kids, Anna and Benji, didn’t know I was watching!”

On Friday, June 5, the Glencoe Historical Society unveiled all 15 of the Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired street markers designed by members of the community for the Wright Around Town public art initiative. The markers will be on display throughout Glencoe all summer and through early October.
