Even today, the thought of going to the doctor’s office for a shot doesn’t exactly fill me with joy. 

When I spoke with Lilly Jaffe and her mother, Laurie, they told me that Lilly, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was just 1 month old, at one point had to take five or six shots a day to in order to manage her insulin levels. She then had to transition to an insulin pump.
