Township High School District 113 announced in an email statement on March 12 that it would be canceling school on March 13 after a family member of a Deerfield High School student tested positive for COVID-19, according to Township High School District 113 Superintendent Bruce Law.

The student is asymptomatic, according to a statement sent by Law.

"Because of this, the Lake County Health Department has advised that no further mediation steps are required," Law said.

Law said that the Illinois Department of Public Health has not confirmed it, but both schools would still close for March 13, and eLearning would be instituted until a tentative date of April 14. Law said the district would offer further updates on when eLearning would end on April 6.
