The one thing that has always been a constant during Loyola coach John Holecek’s tenure has been a staunch defense, one that keeps other teams at bay and allows the Rambler offense to get going and take early leads.

The Ramblers were at it again on Saturday, when they took on Edwardsville in a clash in downstate Edwardsville.

Loyola recovered a Tigers fumble in the third quarter, turned it into a two-touchdown lead and made it hold up in a 17-10 victory in the semifinals of the Class 8A playoffs.
