David Tianjian Peng, 15, of Wilmette, is the 2018 National High School Chess Champion.

Peng, who attends New Trier High School, competed against 1,500 players April 27-29 to determine the nation’s top player at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. Peng now holds the title of FIDE Master from the World Chess Federation. He previously won the 2015 National Junior High (K-9) Championship.
