A recent home design competition saw dozens of Illinois Institute of Technology architecture students vying to create an affordable home that could be built in a floodplain on a Winnetka lot, and it generated several designs that have the potential to change how homes are built in the village.

The Farnsworth Redux Design Competition was initiated by Bob Footlik, a Glencoe engineer who along with his sister inherited their parents’ Winnetka home two blocks away from the Skokie Lagoons.
