Gasoline Alley, created by Frank Oscar King, was one of the greatest comic strips of
the 20 th century. First appearing in 1918 and still running today, it is arguably the
longest running comic strip in history, with a beloved family of characters led by
favorites Walt and Skeezix. Many people in town do not know that King lived here
in Glencoe when he created the series and during much of its early success.
