Loyola is in a bit of uncharted waters coming into the 2019 season. After winning nine consecutive Illinois High School Women's Lacrosse Association state titles, the Ramblers were upset by host Hinsdale Central in the IHSA's first-ever state playoffs and took third after defeating Naperville North.

"We feel like last year we had a very bitter ending," Loyola coach John Dwyer said. "I felt, our kids felt, we had the best team in the state. We had taken care of business at our games at the state and we didn't get the job done.
