During the Central Suburban League conference championship match between the New Trier and Evanston girls water polo teams, it looked like the winner was going to be determined by which defense could hold the longest as both teams stifled each other’s offense throughout the game.
But once it got to overtime, New Trier’s Kasey Umlauf was unwilling to let her team lose.
After the Wildkits struck first in the extra session, Umlauf scored three of her six goals in the two overtimes as the Trevians outlasted Evanston 10-8.
