Matthew Dippold, 39, of the 1100 block of Terrace Court, was arrested for battery and resisting arrest at 8:17 p.m. Oct. 4 at his home in Glencoe. The battery charge was against a police officer, according to Richard Weiner, Glencoe Public Safety deputy chief. His court date is Nov. 21.

As we’re switching gears to fall, The Glencoe Anchor provided one more look back at this year’s summer break during its annual Family Vacation Photo Contest.
This year, it looks like many families had a wonderful summer exploring new places on vacation.
The top photo for this year’s contest came from Glencoe resident David Colton, who wrote in: “Our favorite photo from Big Sky, Montana last week. My kids, Anna and Benji, didn’t know I was watching!”
Whether he was holding court at his beloved Macushla tap room or hanging out with family, Mike Welch was a guy everyone wanted to be around.
“He touched a lot of people. He made a lot of good relationships, and once you got to know him, you were going to have a bond for life,” said his brother Patrick.
Hundreds of those friends and family packed Our Lady of Perpetual Help and then the basement at Hackney’s on Lake April 22 to share one last moment with Welch, who died April 17 at age 44.
A 63-year-old Northfield man died Aug. 23 after he was stung by approximately 20 yellowjacket wasps in his backyard, as reported by our sister paper, The Winnetka Current.
Gregory Salm was reportedly moving wood in his yard in the 1600 block of Harding Road, Northfield, when the wasps began to sting him around 7:45 p.m.
