Peter Nestos never thought he’d be in the family business.

Now, 24 years after taking over his parents deli, the owner of Spiro’s Deli continues to carry on the traditions his parents set back in 1966.

When the store opened, on the northeast corner of Lake and Waukegan Road in Glenview, it was a full-service deli run by Nestos’ parents. But big chain grocery stores like Jewel-Osco, and the now defunct Dominick’s, forced the family to rethink its menu.
